Two Points Dropped Or A Point Gained?
It’s the old cliché but it seems to apply more than ever tonight.
Our game away against Villa was always going to be a tough fixture but our record against them has always been good so we could dare to hope that three points for United was not entirely out of the question.
However, with us 1-0 down it after just twenty minutes, looked like something of an uphill battle. That we scored within a few minutes to restore parity was just what we needed. What we didn’t need was for a player (Nani) to get sent off a few minutes later.
At that point, it looked like we might have to hang on for the point but credit to United, they kept looking for the winner and even with the ten men away from home against one of the best sides in the Premier League, the full three points didn’t look totally beyond us.
Meanwhile, Chelsea were having a bit of a tussle against Everton at Goodison but were 1-0 up after just 17 minutes. Things didn’t look good for us. Then Everton scored and just before half-time, missed a penalty which would have really turned the screw on Chelsea.
However, Everton did get their second late on in the second half and the game ended in defeat for Chelsea.
So, Chelsea dropped three points and we gained a point so we are now just a point behind them.
At first, it seemed a shame that we couldn’t take full advantage of Chelsea’s slip but I am sure that with us a man down and drawing at Aston Villa, the Chelsea fans will all be thinking the very same thing.
Not so long ago, we were four points behind Chelsea and now we are just the one. Had we won tonight, we would have gone one point in front and, at this stage of the season, I am not sure which is the worst position to be in. With 4-5 games to go, I would rather be in Chelsea’s position but with twelve games to go, I just wonder how much pressure the Chelsea boys are feeling right now, knowing that the Champions are right there, breathing down their necks and are whittling down their advantage bit by bit, game after game and they still have to play us at Old Trafford.
All things considered, I think this was a point gained.

From my point of view it was certainly a point gained – especially after 1) letting in the first goal, 2) playing most the match with 10 men and 3) Chelsea losing, helping us close the gap! Am slightly worried about Arsenal though, they have a very easy run-in. With everyone losing and drawing all the time it really is the league noone wants to win!!
Hi Vuvuzelas… apologies for not responding sooner. Have had a bit of a problem with the computer here over the last couple of days. Thanks for visiting and thanks for commenting.
I’m really not worried about Arsenal at all. They might have an easier run in than us but they will still make a mess of it. Besides, what would it say if they DID win the League this season? Stuffed home and away by Chelsea. Stuffed at home and beaten away by Man Utd.
Arsenal the best team in England? I don’t think so!
