It is hard to believe that this is the Carling Cup. The competition dismissed by Fergie so many times in the past as little more than a necessary irritation in the way of his true goal of becoming English and European Champions but it is and, as Fergie has said himself recently, this has more of a feel of a big European night.

The spotlight will be on Tevez and it will be interesting to see how he reacts to what will surely be a hostile welcome.

The spotlight might also have been on Neville but the chances of him appearing in this one look slim.

Despite idiots like me putting up provocative pictures such as the one up there, what I would like to see almost as much as a resounding win for United here tonight would be for Neville to approach Tevez and offer him his hand.

Whilst City might be a pretender with cash, they need to be shown what it means to be a Champion with class.
