Has The Blattersaur Seen The Light?

Sepp Blatter has reportedly told a Swiss newspaper that he is actually not totally against the introduction of video technology.

I’m not absolutely against it. If the technology is ready to adopt, then I am in agreement. If the security of the system is guaranteed then we will introduce it”, said Blatter.

Well this is a bit of a turnaround and whilst Blatter states that he is not absolutely against it, he could have fooled me. Maybe it’s the Alzheimers kicking in but he seems to have forgotten that he has been just about the only person in the world who has resisted the introduction of video technology whilst everyone else would have at least put it to some kind of trial by now.

I wonder what has prompted this sudden change of heart?

Oh, the FIFA Presidential Elections take place next year and Blatter has put himself forward for another term.

A nice, non-committal sound-bite on the one issue that he knows divides most opinions. Blimey, I have to hand it to him, he’s good at this politics game.

Call me age-ist though but at 74 (which he will be next year), I think it’s time he shuffled away and took up gardening, queueing up at post offices, smacking his bitch up or whatever it is that old people do with themselves these days and left it to someone a wee bit younger and less senile.
