Hargreaves Injured Shocker

Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that the injured Owen Hargreaves has suffered another injury and will now miss out on pre-season training and the start of the 2010/11 season saying, “I don’t know when he will be back”.

I hate to say it but the word that springs immediately to mind is “never”.

Hargreaves has had terrible bad luck with injuries for several years now and has pretty much been absent for two years now.

With the 25 man squad limit coming into effect next season, Fergie appears to have a massive decision to make as to whether or not to include him.

I am not sure when the squad has to be named but it is going to be very interesting to see if Hargreaves is included.

I don’t think it changes things so much for us. The only question is the squad spot. Should Fergie gamble with this spot or not. Considering that 10 months of football is a long time, and there is a very high certainty that with regular football this injury will be ever present, I am now in the retire camp for Hargreaves. However, we know so little at this point in terms of what has happened, that maybe it is a smoke-screen. Could it explain the Sneijder interest?

Well, it obviously changes little in terms of the fact that we have managed quite well without him for two years (could have done with him in the CL Final the other year but hey ho).

It is the squad place that is the big one now.

It did cross my mind that maybe he is not injured but is perhaps subject to interest from elsewhere and that is why he is not going on the USA Tour.

Watch this space, I suppose. Personally, I expect some major news one way or the other tomorrow.
