Fergie Hit with Four Match Ban
Following on from his remarks about Alan Wiley being “unfit”, Fergie today learned of his punishment from the FA:
A £20,000 fine and four match touchline ban although two of them are suspended which means that should he be guilty of a similar offence between now and the end of the 2010/11 season, the additional two match ban will kick in.
Personally, I think that that is more than enough of a punishment although there are bound to be some out there who will be very disappointed by it. Particularly people like referees union boss Alan Leighton who has already said that the union will be seeking legal advice should the punishment meted out by the FA be insufficient in their eyes.
I hope that they practice what they preach.
If we must have respect for the referees and the decisions they make, the referees probably should have respect for the FA and the decisions they make.
