Benzema Deal Gunned Down

Well, this one hurts because I really did think this kid was going to be coming to Old Trafford but it has just been announced that Real Madrid have scuppered us and he’s off to join Ronaldo, Kaka et al.

Fergie will no doubt be pretty miffed about this one because he has made no secret of his admiration for the Lyon striker over the last 18 months or so.

I can only imagine that it became something of a bidding war and whilst Benzema is an exciting prospect, he is still a bit rough around the edges and Fergie wasn’t going to get into a silly money auction with a Real Madrid President who seems to have lost all sense of reality.

I just hope Real Madrid actually play him regularly and are not just buying up players to prevent the competition from getting them which sounds like a crazy thing to do but Real Madrid have been doing some pretty crazy things of late.
